St Mary’s Cathedral College—one of Australia’s oldest and most respected schools—is entering a new chapter with the development of a second, state-of-the-art campus in the heart of Sydney.
Located at 52–58 William Street, the project involves the adaptive reuse of a commercial office building into a modern, multi-storey learning facility. The vertical campus will feature contemporary learning spaces, seminar rooms, and dedicated facilities for the performing arts—designed to support the evolving needs of students and staff.
MGP’s Role
Drawing on our extensive experience with Sydney CBD developments, MGP was engaged to manage water infrastructure design and approvals—an area where many city-centre projects encounter complex challenges.
This site presented unique constraints, including a heritage-listed brick oviform asset dating back to 1868, located just below the surface. In addition, a DN450 stormwater asset ran along an adjacent boundary, with sections of it exposed above ground.
Our team successfully navigated these challenges by managing the Sydney Water “Out of Scope” process, ensuring the development could proceed while maintaining the integrity of critical and heritage-listed infrastructure.
